I fell in love with Peking Opera the first time I heard it. But that was when the war began. I was living in Nanjing at the time, and an outstanding opera singer once stayed at my home. Due to the war, he was unable to complete his show. Not only has our homeland been destroyed, but so have we.

Yao Hong was born in Nanjing in 1961 and graduated from the Department of Fine Arts of the Nanjing Academy of the Arts in 1982, majoring in Chinese painting. She worked as the editor of Jiangsu Children’s Publishing House and is now a professor of illustration at the School of Fine Arts of the Nanjing Academy of the Arts, as well as an art consultant at the Early Education Center of the Central Institute of Education Sciences.

姚 红，1961年生于南京，1982年毕业于南京艺术学院美术系中国画专业，曾任江苏少年儿童出版社编审，现任南京艺术学院美术学院插画系教授，兼任中央教育科学研究所早教中心美术顾问。
绘本作品有《蓬蓬头溜冰的故事》（获全国优秀少儿读物一等奖，并在大陆、台湾、香港发行）、《明珠》（获全国优秀少儿读物一等奖）、《晚上的浩浩荡荡童话》（获冰心图书奖）、《牙印儿》（获国际儿童读物联盟“小松树”奖）、《飞吻大王》（获国家图书奖）、“我爱我的家”系列1-5册（在台湾三民书局出版）；插图作品有《大木碗》（参加第六届全国美展）、《艾克寄信》（参加第七届全国美展）、“非常小子马鸣加”系列1-8册（获上海书籍设计优秀插图奖，并在中、韩两国发行）。
